Summer is almost over, but luckily, summiting season has just began. Snow is still a few months away for most of the Rocky Mountains. This only means one thing: It’s time to start planning your next adventure. Summiting 14ers in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains is part of every Coloradan’s dream. Additionally, traveling from afar is amidst many climber’s goals. Mt. Elbert - 14,440 feet
If you’re looking to summit one of the tallest peaks in Colorado make sure you have 14,440 feet printed onto your tear proof paper sign, because this is one of the tallest 14ers in the Rocky Mountains. It’s the 27th highest peak in North America, and it provides an amature hiker the perfect trail to follow which will allow for a moderate hike. Beware though, this hike is 12.1 miles roundtrip, and should be summited before noon to avoid any dangerous afternoon thunderstorms.
